Sevacare's First AcquisitionKirklees Team

Sevacare is continuing its development and is now well established as a national, not just regional, company. With 15 locations across the country, Sevacare is particularly strong in Birmingham and London. There are 4 branches located across the Birmingham, in West Bromwich, Kingstanding, Sparkhill and Hall Green, which now deliver some 9,000 hours a week to over 1,000 people. In the London boroughs of Haringey, Hounslow and Lewisham, Sevacare provides over 8,000 hours a week to 1,000 people. All those people depend upon the dedicated work of our care staff.

Now Sevacare has acquired CM Community Services Ltd, a business delivering 1,600 hours of care and support per week to vulnerable adults in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, and employing 80 staff. Established in 2002 by paediatric nurse Chris Hall, CM has developed into a highly reputable provider of specialised homecare, mainly to people with physical or learning disabilities, contracting with Kirklees Council and local PCTs.

Following Sevacare's successful contract win in Bradford in 2008, which has grown to volumes of 2,000 hours per week, the acquisition of CM enhances Sevacare's presence in what it considers to be key West Yorkshire conurbations.

The acquisition takes Sevacare's business volume to over 28,000 hours per week, augmenting its 33% organic growth achieved in 2009 and pushing it into the top ten largest independent homecare providers in England. CM is Sevacare's first acquisition, part of a broadening of strategy since the arrival of Chief Executive Roger Booker from Care UK in January. The initial consideration has been fully funded by the North West Midlands team at HSBC, reflecting the strength of Sevacare's balance sheet.

Sevacare owner and Chairman, Ravi Bains, said "We are delighted to have acquired such a high quality, innovative provider in a strategically important geography. CM's 3 star rating and IIP status fit very well with our quality ethos. 2009 has been an excellent year so far and we look forward to further growth in the future. Sevacare has developed into a very successful national business, but in so doing has not lost focus on the needs of people in its West Midlands heartland. In my opinion, one of our biggest achievements this year has been to continue to improve our service to the people living in our major cities via our strong relationships with the Councils in Birmingham, London and Bradford, whilst at the same time embarking on a very important and demanding acquisition strategy."
