December 2009
We are delighted to announce that Sevacare, has acquired North West based Primecare, a business delivering 7,500 hours of care and support to older people and people with learning and physical disabilities. Situated in the North West of England, Primecare contracts with 6 local authorities: Blackpool, Lancashire, Oldham, Rochdale, Bury and Manchester.
Since 2002, Primecare has been accepted onto the preferred providers list for Manchester, Blackpool and Bury Councils as well as being a preferred provider of care for Rochdale, Oldham and Lancashire County Council. Primecare has an annual turnover of over £5 million. Current Primecare Operations Director and shareholder Jane Walsh, is now appointed as Sevacare’s Care Services Director (North West). Jane Walsh said “Joining a nationally recognised company is an exciting time for Primecare and gives us the opportunity to take the business to the next level. Working with Sevacare and the experience of the senior management team will help continue to deliver a quality service. The opportunity to join Sevacare was a perfect match as both companies place quality at the forefront of their service delivery.”
Following Sevacare’s first acquisition earlier this year in Kirklees, the acquisition of Primecare significantly increases Sevacare’s presence and profile in the North of England and presents further opportunities for development in the region.
The acquisition now takes Sevacare’s business volume to over 38,000 hours per week reflecting a growth in turnover by 25%, and firmly placing the company within the top 10 national homecare providers in England, and arguably the largest independent provider in the UK.
The Primecare acquisition is a major step for Sevacare strategically and highlights the growth the company has had over the last 12 months. Primecare is Sevacare’s second acquisition, part of a broadening of strategy since the arrival of Chief Executive Officer, Roger Booker from Care UK in January.
Sevacare’s Owner and Chairman, Ravi Bains, said “This acquisition demonstrates our ambition to break into new geographies and cement our position as a leading provider of domiciliary and specialist care services. We see this as part of our on-going strategy to play a national role in the delivery of care services throughout the UK. The Primecare deal was one that adds value to the organisation and brings with it many plus points such as a vibrant learning disabilities business and opportunities to expand further in some great northern cities and towns. We are extremely excited to have bought Primecare into the Sevacare portfolio and we will build on the success of the previous management team.”
